Google announces its most common motor-related searches of the last decade, and some of them are definite eye-openers.
We live in a world where the answer to virtually any question is just a quick Google away. Let’s be honest, the whole point in our having a website is so that, when you ask Google for car or van rental companies in Leeds/Scunthorpe/Bolton/Lincoln/Rugby, TJS Self Drive is always one of the answers you’re presented with.
Much as we’d love to be top of the UK’s most googled auto-related searches, it turns out that the most common queries aren’t van hire related, but problem based. And the makes and models associated with these issues are quite revealing.
As Motoring Research reports, power loss is the most frequently search issue, with the Vauxhall Corsa, Audi A3, BMW 1 series and Vauxhall Insignia the top offenders.
Next up are mysterious noises. ‘Why is my … beeping?’ is the most-searched phrase in respect of the Kia Sportage, Fiat 500 and Peugeot 208.
Juddering is a frequently searched issue for Ford Fiestas and Vauxhall Astras, whilst overheating and loss of water/coolant seems to be something that affects plenty of VW Golfs, VW Polos, Minis and the Toyota Yaris.
In the eccentric category of searches, and at no. 19 on the list, is ‘is my Vauxhall Mokka a 4×4?’. You’d think if you owned it you might know the answer to that. And at no. 20 is the ever-so-slightly smug ‘Why is my BMW 3 Series the best?’. We’ll let you offer your own answers to that one, especially if you own a BMW 4 Series.
But nothing beats the search at no 17 in Google’s charts for eye-popping terror. Apparently, lots of people search ‘Why is my Ford Kuga burning?’
It’s almost enough to make you forego car ownership forever and stick with vehicle rental. At least that way, you’d never need to search for any of the above.
